Something kind of wild just happened. Over the last week, hacky sack took off across the USA. It had been climbing for a while, but the beginning of May was the real inflection point.
I know because we own and operate one of the oldest and best known footbag shops in the country, and our website traffic over the past 30 days tells the whole story:
Most online shops are totally sold out. We've still got a bit of stock and we're selling through it. I'm working hard to scale up our production so we can meet the new demand.
I'm John Webber, the owner and founder. I started this business back in 2001, and I'm super excited to see footbag coming back. I love the sport and I love that people are getting physical and kicking hacky sack again. The best part of the last week has been getting messages from kids whose dad bought a footbag from me 20 years ago. I love seeing the new generation take it up.
If you've never tried it, here's the pitch. It's a community sport. It's easy to learn and hard to master. Play for 10 minutes and you'll be tired. There's nothing quite like it.
